Default Question about exam questions involving calculations

Hi guys! I am a newbie on board here. I have a question that I would love some feedback on.

    1. How much of the ACSM PT exam is dedicated to mathematical calculations? Percent wise... 10% of the whole exam? 25%? etc

Just some random information about myself... I plan on taking the exam in October or November. I am nearing halfway through the main textbook. I've come across much information that I already knew. I've been a health/fitness junkie all 23 years of my life . I've taken old practice ACE exams and I have done near perfect on them. I've been flipping to the end of chapter practice tests in the ACSM Certification Review guide and I have done extremely well considering I am not even finished half of my studies. Am I being too confident or is the exam really that hard??

FOr those who found the exam or the material to be very hard and challenging... what is your background on health/fitness/exercise/etc? Is this a new found interest or has it been a long time interest?

    Thanks for reading

Hi greeneyes and welcome. Have you purchased the practice exam? It may give you a better idea of how prepared you are.

I took the ACSM exam a year and a half ago. I cannot remember exactly how many calculations were on the exam but not a ton. The software provides you with a calculator.

    Hope this helps.

Hi Christina, I have not purchased the practice exam yet. I told myself once I finish the books then I will purchase and get started on the practice exam.

Thanks so much for your reply!

PS* This question goes to anyone who can answer...

I cannot get the link to the ACSM practice exam to work. I just wanted to read about it and see how much it costs.|

Does anyone have any experience with this PT practice exam and is it any good?

    OOPS sorry!! (edited)
Go to the ACSM Learning Portal and create a free acount/username.
After doing so you will be able to take a free 20 question quiz based on the ACSM certification. I too plan on purchasing the ACSM practice tests if I do so before you I will be sure to give feedback. I

Greeneyes, bulldogdaddy accidentally typed in my name but he meant for his reply to go to you. (See above post.)

As far as your question is concerned about the starting a personal training business website and the practice exam, use your own judgment. After doing some research on this particular site I have found that they have the exact same concept for starting a massage business. In fact, their 2 websites look practically identical; the main difference being the topic covered. I could be wrong, but I do not believe these people work in the fitness industry. Like I said, use your own judgment. Personally, I would go with the ACSM practice exam.

Good luck! If you have any other questions just ask.

Thanks so much bulldogdaddy and Christina! You've been a great help. I finally took the free practice exam... I plan on purchasing the longer practice exam once I finish my text and review book.

    :thanks:

I actually used the practice exam from the site you mentioned when I was studying for the written test for WITS. I found it very helpful, but some of the questions covered material I had not learned in WITS so I had to skip over those. Overall, I thought it was worth it though and I liked how it gave you an explanation for the questions you get wrong.
