Default ACE Certification Study Material - What's necessary?

    Hi all,

New to the group & forum. What a great website for striving & established personal trainers!

I'm looking into becoming a personal trainer. Ideally private, but looking for other options too. I've been a gym rat since 2003 and love to workout and help others with their fitness goals.

I was looking into the ACE Certifications as this program is well known and commonly accepted by many health clubs, organizations, etc. After reviewing their site and going through their material, I had a hard time sifting through what is needed and what's not. They offer miscellaneous course material that I think aren't necessary.

    Can anyone help me out?

    Hi,

It really depends on what knowledge you have been exposed to prior to study. Have you ever taken anatomy and physiology, Exercise physiology, or kinesiology. If not I would suggest the [i]Guide to Musculoskeletal Anatomy and H

    Hi,

Sorry I got interrupted and sent the stupid thing.

Anyway that guide plus the personal trainer manual, study guide and practice test. The other things, especially the CD's were corny.

    Kelli,

Thanks for the reply! I haven't been exposed to anatomy or physiology, etc..
Perhaps the material I will need are:

The guide, personal trainer manual, study guide, and practice test are the core things I will need.

How long did it take you?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I had all that stuff in college, so I really didn't have to do anything. I did, however, teach a certification preparation class at the university I worked at, and usually the students were ready within a semester. This class assumed no prior knowledge or experience. While the class met for 2-3 hours per week, the ones with no academic background needed the entire semester plus home study, the exercise science students needed only some practical experience.

    Hope that helps. Good luck

From what I understand, you can take the test for ACE without purchasing the materials -

You can just pay $200 bucks and take the test -

    Is this correct?
